Casa Raab is a rural 40 acre ranch, complete with horses, donkeys, a few dogs and cats, and an ongoing agricultural program. You can expect some of the normal country sights, odors and sounds. Casa Raab has very good general services, but it is not a 5 star hotel. If you are looking for extreme luxury and convenience, a hotel in Oaxaca City might be a better choice.
Casa Raab in Oaxaca can accommodate up to 15 people in two houses. You can rent either house or individual bedrooms. We are certain that the great swimming pool, dependable staff and services, excellent Mexican food and comfortable accomodation will make your visit to Casa Raab one of the most enjoyable vacations you have experienced

The tiled pool is long enough to swim laps, and deep enough to practice diving from the professional diving board. The pool is solar heated, and is usually warm enough (72-80 degrees) for pleasant swimming.
Pool Policy: Renters in the Casa Grande have first option on the swimming pool use, since the Casa Grande is built around the pool. Renters of the Casa Grande are urged to share the pool with renters of La Casita, and with mutual respect, it always works out.
The basic staff consists of a groundskeeper, a maid and a cook. Additional staff is brought on when needed. They are Mexican campesinos who live in the village. The family has been with us for 20 years, so the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, and everything runs smoothly. The staff gets along very well with English speakers and language is never much of a problem. The staff has Saturday afternoon, Sunday and major holidays off.
The US managers live in a little house out behind the kitchen and are available for any assistance you might need. They will help you with transportation, planning, and guide services in our 15 passenger van (see Transportation).
Safety First: Purified water is provided for drinking, brushing teeth, etc.
All meals are prepared using careful sanitary methods. We disinfect all produce as it enters the kitchen.
Meals are prepared for the groups renting the Casa Grande, and also the La Casita if they are part of the larger group renting the Casa Grande. Seperate renters of the smaller La Casita usually cook their own meals, or can arrange to have meals prepared at an additional cost.
Arrival: The first evening meal is prepared and waiting for the incoming guests in both houses. Breakfast is also prepared for the guests in the Casa Grande only the following morning (except Sundays).
After the first breakfast the Casa Grande large-group guests plan a menu and go shopping with the cook at several small, local markets. The cook can also be sent shopping on her own. Guests must pay for the groceries and the cost of a cab for her. If we drive for the groceries, we charge our normal rate for van/driver.
This will stock up enough food to last for four or five days. Guests will soon be back at the house with a load of produce and supplies that the cook will manage. From that point on two meals per day are prepared for them.
Traditional Oaxacan "Comida" is prepared between 2 and 4pm. Since most visitors want to eat later than that, the meal is able to be heated in the evening, and the salads are fresh in the 'fridge.
La Casita guests must provide food and groceries for themselves unless other arrangements are made in advance. La Casita renters usually prepare their own first breakfast, unless they are part of the larger group renting the Casa Grande.
Sundays & Holidays: You will need to make your own arrangements for Sunday breakfasts and dinners since the staff has the day off. Options for Sunday dinner include eating out at one of Oaxaca's fine restaurants. The staff members have various days off during the major holidays. Be prepared to plan for a couple of days without services during the Holiday Weeks.
